Richard Warren has turned twenty. As he begins the third decade of his life, he continues to adjust to his new lifestyle he’s leading as Newcastle’s rising star of journalism. Whilst working at the offices of Britain Today, he’s surrounded by a climate of conflict throughout Britain. The IRA continues its war for a united Ireland and the country begins the Cod Wars with Iceland. Richard is the one covering it all.
But as conflict rages on distant shores, he soon discovers conflict hitting closer to home than he could have imagined.
Firmly in love with his girlfriend Jessica Deakins, Richard takes the decision to introduce her to his parents back home in Ledder Bridge. The long-awaited reunion with his parents two-and-a-half years after leaving to strike out on his own doesn’t go how he planned. Now he must deal with the new realities of home. His father is an alcoholic and his mother is depressed. Ledder Bridge is no longer the magical place he once grew up in.
With every passing year threatening to tear his family apart and corrupt police officer Robert Hardy dogging him at every turn, Richard must attempt to rekindle a broken home and his insatiable desire for success and power.
Will Richard achieve his dreams or will his house come crumbling down?
